Birds are looking at being without standout right tackle for a period of time.

The Eagles’ offensive line took another big hit Sunday when both starting tackles, Jason Peters and Lane Johnson, left with injuries in the first half of a 24-18 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Johnson, playing through an ankle sprain, had his ankle rolled so severely that he had to be carted off. Per Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer, it’s a torn MCL.

Another source, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, reported that it’s a sprain. A sprain is technically a tear, so it may just be a matter of semantics.

How many games Johnson will miss won’t be determined until after the team returns to Philadelphia and more tests are performed.

Sometime after that incident, Peters went out with a head injury, but he was back on the field at the start of the second half.

With both out of the game for much of the second quarter, it forced some major adjustments as Halapoulivaati Vaitai came in to play on the left side, Isaac Seumalo shifted from left guard to right tackle and Stefen Wisniewski was inserted at left guard.

Though the makeshift alignment was not optimal, quarterback Carson Wentz worked his way through it to lead the Eagles on a short TD drive following a fumble recovery by the defense inside Jacksonville territory.

Philadelphia Eagles Maillot,Wentz scrambled away from pressure to buy time to find tight end Dallas Goedert for a 33-yard touchdown pass with 29 seconds remaining in the half.

After halftime, Peters moved back to his spot, with Vaitai at right tackle and Seumalo back at left guard.

Cornerback Jalen Mills also left with a foot injury in the third quarter and did not return.

The Eagles have next weekend off, which should help with the multitude of injuries they continue to experience.

Vaitai, who filled in surprisingly well after Peters was lost for the season early last year, did not appear as comfortable on the right side, allowing two of the four sacks of Wentz.

Nevertheless, it did nothing to shake the team’s confidence in their overall depth there.

“You might not think it’s a big deal,” Wentz said, But I’ve got to give credit to the O-line. These guys coming in ready to go, it shows we have a lot of depth there.”

Added center Jason Kelce: “Lucky for us, we’ve got some really good, quality depth players on this roster. We had sone guys come in, some guys switch positions right in the middle of the game and we really didn’t miss a beat, for the most part, offensively.

So we’re very fortunate in that respect, and that comes down to coaches making sure reserve players are ready to go and the front office doing the job of putting the quality guys there that, if need be and if called on, can get the job done.”
